Diabetes Mellitus


Diabetes melitus is a metabolic disease in which the person has high blood sugar,either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin,or both.

Symptoms:

  • Weight loss
  • Polyuria (frequent urination)

  • Polydipsia (increased thirst)

  • Polyphagia (increased hunger)

  • Blurred vision

  • Vision changes

  • Diabetic dermadromes (skin rashes)

There is four types of Diabetes : Type 1 , type 2, gestational diabetes, and other specific types.

  • Over weight: stay at a healthy normal body weight
  • Healthy eating: diet rich in whole grains and fibers and choosing good fats
  • Physical activity
  • Smoking cessation
